Yountville

article slide

The gateway to the upper Napa Valley, Yountville is a foodie and wine lover’s dream come true. Yountville is quaint with many businesses occupying beautifully preserved historical stone buildings.

George Calvert Yount, for whom the town was named, established Napa Valley’s first vineyard in the mid-1800s. Later, in 1976, a Yountville winery won first place in a Paris wine tasting competition, changing the world’s view of California wines forever. Today, the town is acclaimed for its classically styled wines and is a mecca for elegant wine varieties, with its rich Chardonnays, full-bodied Cabernets and velvety Merlots.

Having earned the unofficial title of “Culinary Capital of the Napa Valley,” Yountville is recognized by food lovers and critics world-wide as having several of the finest restaurants in the world, including Thomas Keller’s French Laundry, Bouchon and Ad Hoc, and Philippe Jeanty’s Redd Wood and Bistro Jeanty.

The town of Yountville has a population of just under 3,000, yet boasts well-appointed hotels, small luxury inns, at least a dozen sophisticated wine tasting opportunities, numerous dining options and superb shopping. Yountville also has a strong cultural arts scene and a performing arts theater that hosts events, artistic presentations and musical performances.

Whether your indulgence is fine wine, luxury lodging, gourmet food, or gorgeous vistas, Yountville has it all—beauty, sophistication and village charm.
